First exclusive glimpse of Downing Mountain Lodge’s custom wood-fired sauna!

We envisioned creating something truly exceptional and memorable for our guests. We aimed to design an experience that inspires awe and joy while highlighting the unique spirit of Downing Mountain Lodge. This vision led to the development of a custom, round, wood-fired, Finnish sauna, crafted from local Bitterroot River Cottonwood, accommodating up to eight people and offering breathtaking views of the Bitterroot Valley below.

Currently, local builders are diligently constructing the sauna using locally milled wood sourced directly from the banks of the Bitterroot River. In addition to the custom sauna, a new western white larch deck has been cantilevered off the mountain, which now also features our five-person cedar hot tub.
