Why Choose Our Montana Backcountry Ski Lodge?
Downing Mountain Lodge offers something a little different from the typical backcountry ski trip. Set on 80 private mountain acres overlooking Montana’s Bitterroot Valley and bordering National Forest, the lodge puts incredible backcountry terrain right outside your door.
Your group can create the trip that works for you. Self-catering and self-guiding are welcome, or you can add professional backcountry ski guiding to your stay. First-time group leaders also receive a complimentary orientation to the terrain and route to our first summit.
After a full day of skiing or snowboarding, come home to the lodge, soak in the hot tub, and experience our new custom eight-person, wood-fired Finnish sauna, built from locally milled Bitterroot River Cottonwood. It’s the perfect way to warm up, recover, and enjoy the mountain with your crew.
With up to 12 guests currently included in our base winter rate, Downing Mountain Lodge makes it easy to gather your favorite people for a private Montana backcountry adventure.
